COVID-19 pneumonia with ARDS and secondary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis: a case report

Although most people with COVID-19 have mild to moderate symptoms; some may experience worsened symptoms, such as pneumonia, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and failure. Here we reported a case of pneumonia ARDS secondary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (sHLH). A 44-year-old man presented the emergency department history cough, fever, sore throat, muscle ache. The patient transferred Chest Diseases Department, diagnosis pneumonia. Oseltamivir, hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin, low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) favipravir added treatment. Tocilizumab started after endotracheal intubation. In general, saw improvement in values vital signs. Administration LMWH prevented development coagulopathy. conclusion, using HFO system tidal volume according net protocol, optimal PEEP/FiO2 ratio, paying attention keeping driver pressures be beneficial for clinical disease.
